About Mandala
Mandala is a Sanskrit word literally meaning "circle". A Mandala is usually circular in form, of abstract design and generally symmetrical. They are found everywhere; in nature, in design, in buildings, they are hard to miss. Mandala’s are present in a variety of cultural and spiritual traditions but particularly Buddhism, where the Mandala is symbolic of the universe and in essence represents the connection between our inner and outer worlds.
Benefits of Mandala
Designing your own mandala is a relaxing, inspirational and therapeutic process. For some, creating a Mandala can simply be an enjoyable and relaxing experience; you may become so focused on the activity that all other thoughts and concerns fall away. Beyond that Mandalas are a sacred and spiritual experience and are used for increasing self-awareness; learning about your present inner world or designing a Mandala to symbolize a state of mind that you would like to achieve. For each person the experience is different; you can decide what it is for you and Gillian will facilitate your needs within the group setting.
